Currently not in operation, after having closed during the COVID-19 downturn, the Ambassador Hotel can still be switched back to its original charm that it once boasted in years past. Although it now shows as humble in appearance, the Hotel is ideally located and just a few minutes’ drive to Long Circular Mall, Ellerslie Plaza, Groceries, Churches and all other amenities that one would need in its surroundings. Ambassador Hotel became a recently non-functioning hotel in 2020 when the economy and the country as a whole had to go into a “lockdown” as a whole. It is located in the quiet suburbs of Port of Spain in the central area between the two busy districts of St. James and Maraval. Ambassador Hotel has a wonderful ambiance set into the lush foliage and backdrop of the Northern Range hills.
Sitting on a little over three acres, one rood and twenty-three perces (147,831.8 sq. ft.) of prime land and overlooking the palatial residence of the United States Ambassador (where it derived its name), it has spectacular views of Port of Spain to San Fernando over the Gulf of Paria looking Southward while there are views of the mountains on the other three sides of the Hotel.
The hotel (approx. 85,000 sq. ft. of covered areas), was continuously being upgraded to meet the growing demands of the new-age expectations of a first-class hotel during its time in operation. All of the rooms are well appointed, some are standard suites with a choice of the more regal suites being offered.
Greeted by the Concierge after alighting from one’s vehicle, one meets the front desk and a sitting area. Abundant parking is available for 250 cars on a 2-level car park which allows for large functions to take place with ease. A further arrangement can be made for very large functions to enjoy the parking available after 8pm at the Long Circular Mall nearby and a shuttle service can be arranged for those guests to and from the hotel.
The hotel offers 55 Guest Suites. 38 Standard rooms, 16 Regal Suites and 1 Presidential Suite. All rooms have lovely views of different areas, some have a sea view, some mountain views, some are overlooking the pool and outside entertainment areas.
Nestled into a hillside is the swimming pool, pool bar and recreation areas including a bandstand and large covered yet open-sided hall. There is also kitchen facilities for a pool restaurant.
The hotel also has Staff accommodation and offices. Floor plans available on request. There is also room for further expansion as some land is still unused.
Could be converted to office suites, hospital (in or out patients) or condos, just to name a few options if one did not wish to redo the Hotel.
Formerly in its glory days, the property has now become dilapidated. As such the ASKING PRICE: SIXTEEN MILLON UNITED STATES DOLLARS – (US$16,000,000.00). Floor plans on request.
This property is also now available for “lease” long-term, at a price to be negotiated.
